Spectator Registration

Thank you for your interest in registering for the 2023 Consumer Culture Theory Conference at Lund University.

 

The 2023 Consumer Culture Theory Conference will be held from Tuesday, June 27 to Friday, June 30, 2023 ​at AF-borgen, the epicenter of studentlife in the city since 1851, that is located on the beautiful Lund University campus in the city of Lund, Sweden. Lund University and the School of Economics and Management are excited to host the 2023 Consumer Culture Theory Conference and are looking forward to welcoming you to our campus. Click here to learn more about our theme, Utopia Revisited.

This year the conference is an in-person event. All attendees will be able to participate in conference sessions (see conference program), and enjoy light food and drinks throughout the conference. If you buy a spectator day pass, lunch and fika are included for that particular day. 

Spectator Day Pass: It's possible for both academics and non-academics to purchase a "Spectator Day Pass" in cases you only want to attend particular days. The Utopian Dinner and The Dystopian Party are not included in the registration fee for "Spectator Day Pass". Only ”Full Conference Fee” includes all events during the conference and if you're interested in this option, please go to the conference registration here.

The Utopian Dinner: To celebrate the last evening of the conference, you are invited to a lundensian 3-course “sittning” (a dinner in other words) in AF’s Stora Salen, with utopian overtones (both in terms of affective mood and ritual). Here, lundensian student traditions and toastmastery will encourage us to sing Swedish student songs with utopic themes and burst out in utopian cries if you will. The dinner is on Thursday evening the 29th of June.

The Dystopian Party: But we can’t only abide utopia, so, after the dinner we will walk ten minutes to the Dystopian party located in a typically anti-aesthetic student “Nation” (the lundensian name for student dorms and associations) – namely Lund Nation itself – but on a rooftop to keep some of our remaining utopian mood intact. To the sips of drinks and the late nordic sunset in the bar, we will first be welcomed by the rigorous MOB band who will treat us with a soundscape transporting us back to the utopic-dystopic roots of CCT, before we transit into the present Nation club style by way of the Lund Nation DJ. Think Swedish House Maffia meets kindergarten and your dystopia is all set. Drink, dance, laughter and despair, we are all in this together! The doors close at 2 o’clock.

Plus 1: We also offer the possibility to bring a plus 1 (such as spouse or friend) for The Utopian Dinner or The Dystopic Party. If you want to purchase a day pass or plus 1, please make your inquiry by contacting us at info@cctc2023.com.

Registration rates are in Swedish krona (SEK) and payable via Visa or Mastercard.

How to purchase a spectator day pass or plus 1?

If you want to purchase a day pass, dinner or plus 1, please make your inquiry by contacting us at info@cctc2023.com.

For Planning Purposes
For planning purposes (so to avoid food waste etc.), we need to know if you are planning to attend the various social events, even if they are included in your specific registration fee. Therefore, when you register, you will get questions if you are attending the events or not. Thank you in advance for this.

CCTC Refund Policy
CCTC refund policy approved by board vote electronically September 2018. Requests for a full refund of registration fee will be honored if a written notification of cancellation is received by the CCTC Executive Secretary (cctexecsec@gmail.com) 30 days prior to the conference start date (minus a $50.00 processing fee). A 50% refund will be given if a written notification of cancellation is received by the CCTC Executive Secretary (cctexecsec@gmail.com) 14 days prior to the conference start date. Request for refunds will not be honored after this time.

Registrants to the conference must agree to foster a conference environment free from discrimination, harassment, and assault, and to abide by the CCTC Statement on Harassment.
